Matthew 24:42 " Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming."  The prophetic End Time signs are rapidly being fulfilled.  Jesus warned us that when we see these signs coming to pass that our "redemption draws nigh." 


Tragically, many professing Christians are asleep, involved in sin, or engrossed in the things of this world.  Many excuse their lukewarmness, apathy and outright sin!  They have deceived themselves.  We have returned to the "Days of Noah," where sin is the norm and righteousness the abnormal.  It permeates the world and the church!  Jesus warned, "As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man."  (Matthew 24:37-39)


Is this happening?  Drinking, drunkenness, wild parties, adultery, rampant divorce, premarital sex, homosexuality, drugs, and living the "good life" are prevalent in the world and in the church!  There is no fear of God and no shame!  Yes, the "Days of Noah" have returned with a vengeance.

Jesus said that He is coming will be like a thief in the night.  No one knows when a thief is coming.  In Matthew 24: 42-44, He warned, "Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him."


Soon, He will rapture His faithful, prepared and watching believers home to Heaven.  Many will be left behind as Matthew 24:40-41 records, "Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left."  The churches and altars will then be full of weeping and sorrowful people but it will be TOO LATE!!!!

Three young Englishmen gathered with 60 other people for a New Year's prayer meeting on Fetter Lane in London.  The date was January 1, 1739.  Charles Wesley, his brother John and a friend George Whitefield continued in prayer until 3:00 in the morning.  John records in his journal the phenomenal event that took place:
"About three in the morning, as we were continuing instant in prayer, the power of God came mightily upon us, insomuch that many cried our for exceeding joy, and many fell to the ground.  As soon as we were recovered a little from that awe and amazement at the presence of his Majesty, we broke out with one voice, ‘We praise thee, O God; we acknowledge thee to be the Lord."
The Holy Spirit filled the Wesley brothers and George Whitefield and commissioned them for an incredible work that would shake two continents for God.  That work would affect the lives of millions and even save the English-speaking world from the ravages of the French Revolution.  The First Great Awakening swept the British Isles and the American continent.  These three young men preached to tens of thousands in the open air, in cemeteries, on town squares and anywhere that people would listen.  
Charles was one of the most dynamic of these preachers.  His commitment to spreading the Gospel of Christ knew no bounds.  On one occasion, he traveled without sleep for three days in rain to make an appointment.  More remarkable than his preaching was his powerful gift of writing hymns.  He wrote 4,000 hymns, many still sung by Christians today.  This video is a glimpse into the remarkable life of a man sold out to God.

The Arab nations of the world will attack Israel in a coordinated effort to annihilate the state (Psalm 83).


Israel will soundly defeat the Arab alliance (Zechariah 12:6).


Israel will dwell in security and prosperity (Ezekiel 38:11).


A Russian coalition consisting mainly of Muslim nations will invade Israel (Ezekiel 38:1-17).


The Russian coalition will be destroyed supernaturally by God (Ezekiel 38:18-23 & 39:1-8).


The Antichrist will intervene and guarantee the security of Israel, enabling the Jews to rebuild their Temple (Daniel 9:27).


At the end of three and a half years, the Antichrist will enter the rebuilt Temple in Jerusalem and declare himself to be God (Daniel 9:27, Matthew 24:15-18, & 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4).


The Jews will reject the Antichrist, and he will respond with an attempt to annihilate them, killing two-thirds of them in the process (Revelation 12:13-17 & Zechariah 13:8-9).


At the end of the Tribulation, when the Jews have come to the end of themselves, they will turn to God and receive Yeshua as their Messiah (Zechariah 12:10, Romans 9:27-28, & Romans 11:25-27).


Jesus will return and regather all believing Jews to Israel (Deuteronomy 30:1-9).


Israel will be established as the prime nation in the world (Isaiah 2:1-4 & Micah 4:1–7).


The Lord will bless the Jewish remnant by fulfilling all the promises He has made to Israel (Isaiah 60:1-62:7).


The blessings of God will flow out to all the nations through the Jewish people during the Millennial rule of Jesus (Zechariah 8:22-23).

"GOD'S HAND IN THE SIX DAY ARAB - ISRAELI WAR" 

Egypt, Syria, Jordan and two additional Arab armies had been supplied with $2 billion dollars worth of military equipment by the Soviet Union.  Bolster by this, five powerful Arab armies devised an evil plan to finally destroy the nation of Israel.  The odds were vastly against the small Jewish State.  The outcome appeared catastrophic.  The situation hopeless.  However, it is in the worst of times that God does the most miraculous of things.  

At 7:45 a.m. on June 5, 1967, Israel launched the most successful preemptive air strike in military history. Within a few hours, virtually the entire Egyptian Air Force lay in smoldering wreckage. Fighting on three fronts, against the combined might of five different armies, Israel secured a stunning victory in a mere six days. How did this tiny state manage to overcome an Arab enemy that had twice as many soldiers, three times as many tanks, and four times as many airplanes?   The answer.....the God of Israel!!!  


The Psalmist David declared, 


"The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

 Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.

 One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.

 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.

 And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD."  Psalms 27

The war lasted exactly six days and on the seventh day the army of Israel rested, just like God did after the six days of creation!  Israeli General Moshe Dayan placed a note in the Western Wall of the liberated Temple Mount.  Written on the piece of paper were these words, "This is the LORD's doing; it is marvelous in our eyes."  Psalms 118:23

An Arabic Islamic cleric declared that the Quran sentences Jews and Israel to extermination "before a single Jew existed on earth," and that blessing upon Palestinians and the world depends on the destruction of Israel and the Jews.  He stated that  Israel was the "head of the snake of world-wide corruption" and must be "cut off."  These horrendous and frightening statements bring back the bitter memories of Hitler and the Holocaust, which led to the slaughter of six million Jews.  The Prophet Ezekiel declared that the Arabs (descendants of Esau) possessed an "ancient hatred" for the Jewish people.  This hatred goes back 4,000 years to the conflict between Esau and Jacob (Israel).  Arabic educational systems instill this vicious hatred into generation after generation of Arab youth.  The Arabs want the inheritance that God gave to Israel long ago:  the land of Israel or Palestine.  


The world stage has recently been set for the culmination of this ancient conflict.  The "Arab Spring," which has led to the overthrow of many Arab governments, will result in an Islamic super state or "Caliphate."  Psalms 83: 1- 8 foretells of a coalition of nations (the Islamic Arabic Caliphate) would arise against Israel in the last days.  In 586 BC,  Obadiah  prophesied that the Arabic Caliphate's goal would be to destroy Israel. “Rise, let us go against her (Israel) for battle” (Obadiah 1). There are 200 million Arabs compared to Israel's 6 million population.  It is a repeat of the battle between David and Goliath! Arabic pride will cause a massive army to come against Israel's borders.  Obadiah 1 - 17 gives the details and outcome of this war...


 " But on Mount Zion will be deliverance; 
   it will be holy,
   and Jacob will possess his inheritance.
¹⁸ Jacob will be a fire
   and Joseph a flame;
Esau will be stubble,
   and they will set him on fire and destroy him.
There will be no survivors
   from Esau.”
 The LORD has spoken.

Israel will be delivered and the Islamic Arabic nations will be totally destroyed. Syria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia will be obliterated by Israel's "weapon of fire." Isaiah 17 foretells that Damascus, one of the oldest cities on earth, will become a heap of ruins.  It will never be inhabited again.

The stage is already set for this imminent Middle East war.  Recently, Arab militants tried to breach Israel's borders on three fronts.  A call has been issued to Arabs to attempt the same thing in September, when the Palestinians will unilaterally declare an Islamic Palestinian state.  Jesus IS coming SOON!

answer to prayer— who trust beyond hope when all means have failed.

Someone has come to the place of hopelessness— the end of
hope—the end of all means. A loved one is facing death and
doctors give no hope. Death seems inevitable. Hope is gone. The
miracle prayed for is not happening.

That is when Satan'’s hordes come to attack your mind with fear,
anger, overwhelming questions: “Where is your God now? You
prayed until you had no tears left. You fasted. You stood on
promises. You trusted.”

Blasphemous thoughts will be injected into your mind: “Prayer failed.
Faith failed. Don'’t quit on God —just do not trust him anymore. It
doesn't  pay!”

Even questioning God'’s existence will be injected into your mind.
These have been the devices of Satan for centuries. Some of the
godliest men and women who ever lived were under such demonic
attacks.

To those going through the valley and shadow of death, hear this
word: "Weeping will last through some dark, awful nights —and in
that darkness you will soon hear the Father whisper, “I am with
you. I cannot tell you why right now, but one day it will all make
sense. You will see it was all part of my plan. It was no accident.
It was no failure on your part. Hold fast. Let me embrace you in
your hour of pain."”

Beloved, God has never failed to act but in goodness and love.
When all means fail— His love prevails. Hold fast to your faith.
Stand fast in His Word. There is no other hope in this world.

Rev. David Wilkerson, founding pastor of Times Square Church in New York City and author of the well-known book The Cross and the Switchblade, was killed Wednesday, April 27, 2010,  in a car accident, according to a source close to CBN News.  He was79. Wilkerson was driving east on U.S. 175 and moved into the opposite lane where a tractor trailer was driving westbound. The truck driver saw the car and tried to move out of the way, but still collided with the car head on.

Public Safety Trooper Eric Long stated that Wilkerson's wife Gwen was also involved in the crash and rushed to the hospital, along with the other driver.Wilkerson posted a blog dated April 27 -- the day of his death

. 

In the post, titled "When All Means Fail," he encouraged those facing difficultyto"hold fast" and stand strong in faith.

It's Friday but Sunday's Coming

It was Good Friday.  They had crucified Jesus on a rugged Roman cross.  After six long hours, He had breathed His last  breath. The world was rid of Him!  However, it was Friday.  They had forgotten something incredibly important........Sunday was coming!

The entire Middle East is exploding.  Revolutions have swept Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Yemen, Bahrain, Syria, Egypt and many other Arabic countries.  Radical Islam is working on restoring the "Caliphate," the uniting of all Islamic nations under one rule.  Radical Islamists believe that the current upheaval is a prophetic sign that the Caliphate and its anointed ruler is at hand.  That ruler is the long-awaited "Madhi" or 12th Imman.  The Madhi, a descendant of Mohammed, is the Islamic messiah whom Muslims believe will enable Islam to destroy Israel, the United States and conquer the world.  

The leaders of Iran believe that it is the destiny of their nation to usher in the Madhi.  They believe that his coming will be preceded by great war and bloodshed.  Their goal is not to seek peace but to foment war and conflict.  That is the reason for their mad drive to acquire nuclear weapons.  They are convinced that bloodshed and world-wide war will hasten the Madhi's arrival. To spread this insane ideology, the Iranian leaders are releasing a video entitled, "The Coming Is Near."  This video is being distributed throughout the Islamic Middle East and to Muslims around the world.  Their hope is to accelerate the conflict world-wide, which will usher in their messiah.  This is a very dangerous and deadly development!   

Yet, this is Biblical prophecy being fulfilled.  The Prophet Obadiah foretold this long ago.  He prophesied that a confederation of nations, descended from Esau, would come together in the last days and attack Israel.  These nations are the Islamic Arabic nations of the Middle East.  Like Esau, his descendants have been consumed by a perpetual hatred for the descendants of Jacob (Israel).  Throughout their history, great atrocities have been committed by them against the nation of Israel.  Their goal has been to destroy Israel and to possess her national birthright, which is the land of Israel.  The prophet Obadiah declared that God will bring the descendants of Esau into judgment for their evil.  

The restored "Caliphate," spurred on by Iran, will attack Israel in the near future.  Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and other Arabic nations will suddenly strike Israel.  The odds will seem overwhelming in favor of these Islamic nations.  However, they have not taken into account the God of Israel!  He declared through the prophet Obadiah...

 "The house of Jacob will be a fire and the house of Joseph a flame; the house of Esau will be stubble, and they will set it on fire and consume it. There will be no survivors from the house of Esau." The LORD has spoken. (Obadiah 1:18)

The entire Caliphate will be destroyed!  Not one survivor of the Islamic Arabic nations will survive.  They will be destroyed by fire.  Israel now possesses a powerful weapon of fire called "Fuel Air Explosive" or FAE.  This weapon almost equals a nuclear blast in its destructiveness, but without the fallout. Israel will unleash her incredible arsenal on her attackers and annihilate them.  Psalms 83 and Isaiah 17 state that Syria will cease to be a nation and Damascus completely destroyed.  Ezekiel 29 and Isaiah 19 foretell the collapse and demise of Egypt as a nation.  Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Gaza will be completely destroyed also.   


 Obadiah 1:15 says, " The Day of the Lord is near.  As you have done, it will be done unto you.  Your deeds will return upon your own head."


As a result, Israel will possess her possessions, from the Euphrates to the Nile River.  This war will be swift and decisive. This will set the stage for the next war in the Middle East, the War of Ezekiel 38 with the invasion of Russia and her allies. 

The End Times are upon us!  The Return of the True Messiah, the Son of God, IS at hand!  Are you ready to meet Him?  Even so come Lord Jesus, come quickly!

Appalachia has been the object of ridicule for many, many years.  We have borne the "Beverly Hillbillies" stereotype for too long.  The real ignorance is among those who verbalize such bigoted nonsense.  We have a rich heritage of God in this beautiful and historic region.

The largest ethnic group in Appalachia is the Scots - Irish, who left their native land by the thousands long ago.  Due to generations of atrocities by the English in their motherland, they did not settle in the English Tidewater of Virginia.   They chose the wild, mountain wilderness of Appalachia to call home.

As early as the 1500's, great awakenings swept through Scotland and Northern Ireland.  Marvelous awakenings occurred during the summer Presbyterian "Sacramental Services" (communion services).  June marked the beginning of these high holy days. Thousands were swept into the Kingdom of God.  The Scots-Irish immigrants brought that same faith and heritage of revival with them to Appalachia.  The Sacramental Service was the forefather of the unique Appalachian phenomena - the camp meeting.

The Second Great Awakening in 1801 exploded in all its divine glory in Appalachia at a Scots - Irish Presbyterian communion service at Cane Ridge, Kentucky.  In this backwoods log church, one-tenth of the population of Kentucky came by foot, wagon and horseback to the astonishment of the pastor of the church, Barton Stone.  Between 20,000 to 30,000 not only came but stayed for seven days!  Even the Governor of Kentucky attended.  The heavens were rent and God came down!   Thousands of lives were radically changed by the New Birth.   Miraculous signs, wonders, and healings were common place.  At least a thousand fell to the ground under the power of the Holy Spirit. Forgetting their denominational allegiances, Presbyterian, Methodist and Baptist labored together.  The Awakening swept through Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio and throughout the South.  What is called the "Bible Belt of the South" today is nothing more than a residue of this Great Move of God.  God turned horse thieves, murderers, drunkards, adulterers and sinners into men and women of great piety.  The Awakening changed the very fabric of Southern society.  It still is the foundation of culture in the South today!!

Some historians have stated that the Second Great Awakening bypassed West Virginia.  THIS IS NOT TRUE!!

During the time of the great Cane Ridge revival, Presbyterians were meeting in the farm house of William Poage in Hillsboro, Pocahontas County, Virginia (West Virginia).  Meetings were held in homes before the church building was erected.  On one special night in 1801, many had gathered at the Poage home to hear the testimonies of two young men who had come from the Great Cane Ridge Awakening.  Traveling by horseback and buggy, 20 young people and their pastor, Rev. William Wilson, from Old Stone Presbyterian Church in Lewisburg came also to hear these men.  As the young men began to tell of the wonders that they experienced at Cane Ridge,  the Holy Spirit fell upon the hearers.  The Glory of the Lord filled the Poage home.  The saints of God wept, shouted, fell under the power of the Holy Spirit and sang the glories of the Lord.  The Second Great Awakening had arrived in Hillsboro!!  As the believers left that cottage prayer service, the power of God swept throughout Hillsboro and Pocahontas County.  The pastor of Old Stone Church and his young people headed over the mountain for Lewisburg shouting, singing and praising God.  The Awakening hit Old Stone Church and Lewisburg like a hurricane.  From there, the Second Great Awakening swept all over West Virginia!  Thousands were converted.
  

Appalachian people have either lost or forgotten their rich spiritual heritage.  We have bought into the cultural inferiority complex imposed upon us by today's dominant culture.  NO MORE!!!!  Appalachian people have responded to every great move of God in unprecedented numbers!   We must understand and recapture our rich spiritual heritage. God is about to visit us again!

As I stood on the site of the old Poage farm, I pondered the holy things that had taken place there.  I felt a residue of Divine Presence still remaining.  I wept and offered up a prayer to the Father to "do it again, Lord!"  Finney once said, "The Lord our God be with us as He was with our fathers. May He not leave us or forsake us."   We have abandoned the God of our fathers.  Like the prodigal son, we must repent and make our way back home to Him.

The Holy Spirit is now hovering and brooding over Appalachia.  The very heavens above us are heavy with His Presence.  Heaven is about to rain down upon us! God is going to visit Appalachia once again!  As the old prophet said, "I hear the sound of abundance of rain!"  God has not forgotten you, oh Appalachia!

unparalleled upheaval and turmoil. Do not fear for it is I the Lord 
who am shaking all things. I began this shaking with the first world 
war and I greatly increased it through the second world war. Since 
1973 I have given it an even greater impetus. In the last stage, I 
plan to complete it with the shaking of the universe itself, with 
signs in sun and moon and stars. But before that point is reached,

to Me in one Spirit and I have destined Her for the throne. You 
who are My beloved, whom I have redeemed and anointed - you 
are Mine. I will equip and empower you and you will rise up and 
do great things in My Name, even in the midst of darkness and 
evil. For I will reveal My power, and My grace and glory through 
you. Do not hold back nor question My ways with you for in all 
My dealings with you I have always in mind that you should be 
part of My Bride and reign with Me. Do not forget that this requires 
discipline and training. So yield to Me that I might do a work in 
you in the time which is left for I plan even during all this shaking 
the Bride will make Herself ready.

"For in the midst of these judgments multitudes upon multitudes 
will be saved from the nations. You will hardly know how to bring 
the harvest in, but my Spirit will equip you for the task. And to Israel, 
will I also turn in that day, and I will melt the hardening which has 
befallen her. I will turn their blindness into clear sight, and tear away 
the veil on their heart. Then shall they be redeemed with heart 
bursting joy, and it will become a fountain of new and resurrection 
life to the whole company of the redeemed.

A glowing orb filmed hovering over the skyline of Jerusalem has left UFO experts dumbfounded.
The circular object was seen descending slowly over the holy city's iconic Dome of the Rock before flickering and shooting skyward like a rocket. Similar clips have been seen before and debunked as hoaxes. But this latest sighting has proved more difficult to dismiss -- as it was recorded from different perspectives.
Some UFO enthusiasts believe the videos -- which have taken the Internet by storm -- are final proof that aliens exist, while others say the unidentified object was the Hebrew god Elohim.
Adding to the mystery is the fact that flying over the Dome of the Rock landmark -- an ancient Islamic shrine -- is forbidden.
Two witnesses at the Armon Hanatziv panoramic lookout near Mount Zion filmed the object at 1am on Saturday. A little after one minute into the clip, the object descends slowly, almost to ground level.
The craft hovers there for a short while and then floods the Temple Mount with a brilliant light before shooting upwards at an incredible speed.
Former Ministry of Defense UFO investigator Nick Pope said: "If these are real, they are some of the most incredible videos ever shot.
"If they are not, then this is a very well-planned and coordinated hoax designed to eliminate elements of doubt.
"The way it shoots up into the sky suggests it is unmanned, because no living thing could survive those kinds of G-forces.
"We know the Israeli army has some very high-tech drones at its disposal. If this is one, it is one of the most advanced pieces of technology created by man."
Another set of observers also uploaded their mobile phone footage to YouTube on Saturday.
They wrote: "Have fun debunking this one."

It was just a simple invitation to pray that led a small group of people in 1898 to meet on Saturday evenings from 9 to 10 for prayer. They met at the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago to cry out for an awakening. Within a short time, the group grew to 300 passionate intercessors. A few members remained to pray and intercede into the early hours one Sabbath morning. R. A. Torrey joined this small group to pray for a world - wide revival. During that intense intercession, Torrey asked God to send him around the world. Within a weeks of the close of the prayer meeting, two strangers approached Torrey and asked him to come to Melbourne, Australia to preach. These two men had left Australia months before in search of a man that they believed God would use to bring revival to their nation. Upon meeting Torrey, they felt they had found God's man. The result of that Chicago prayer meeting was an invitation for Torrey to come to Australia.
Torrey arrived in Australia in 1902. 15,000 tried to pack themselves into a building that could only seat 8,000. 8,000 conversions took place in that one meeting. For six months, Torrey and Charles M. Alexander traveled from town to town preaching. Revival swept the nation. Torrey believed that the key to the awakening was prayer. A woman in Melbourne read his book on prayer. She was so deeply touched by his teaching on the subject, that she organized her friends into prayer circles. The groups grew to 1,700 bands meeting regularly to pray for revival. This move of God spread into Britain, Ireland and into other countries. By 1904 30,000 of God's people were enrolled in daily prayer groups. Their prayer was "Revive thy work, Oh Lord." These prayers resulted in the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in 1905 in Wales, Britain, America, in India and China! Wales was rocked by a mighty awakening. London experienced a five month long revival. A mighty choir of 4,000 made Londoners wonder what music must be like in Heaven!
It is estimated that Torrey and his partner Alexander led over 100,000 souls into the Kingdom of God. All this had its beginning in Chicago with a small group of people praying, "Revive thy work, Oh Lord!"
May God raise up such prayer warriors in our day who will daily cry out, "REND THE HEAVENS AND COME DOWN. REVIVE THY WORK, OH LORD!"

Arkansas, Arizona, Louisiana, Kentucky, Indiana, Maryland, North Carolina, China, Australia, Britain, Germany, Wales, New Zealand, Japan, Brazil, Canada other other places are reporting either unusual bird deaths or fish kills or both.  Thousands of birds and millions of fish are mysteriously dying.  Scientist are dumbfounded.  

Isaiah declares of a time to come, "Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvelous work among this people, even a marvelous work and a wonder:  for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid." (KJV)     Another translation reads:  "Therefore once more I will astound these people with wonder upon wonder;  the wisdom of the wise will perish, the intelligence of the intelligent will vanish."

The prophet Habakkuk declared, " Behold ye among the heathen, and regard (take notice), and wonder marvelously:  for I will work a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though it be told to you"

Jesus said in Matthew 16:3,  "And in the morning, it will be foul weather today for the sky is red an lowring.  O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky, but ye cannot discern the signs of the times!"

Folks, SOMETHING IS HAPPENING!!  Acts 2:19 warns us that God will show wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth below.  Are we like the children of Issachar, who were men that had understanding of the times to know what we ought to do?  It is time for the Church to WAKE UP!!!!  It is much later than we think.  We must know what we OUGHT TO DO!!

The year was 1857.  The battleship USS North Carolina,

a 74-gun ship of the line launched in 1820 at the Philadelphia Navy Yard, was anchored in New York harbor.  Her long years of duty were now reduced to being a naval receiving ship. 

Among the many sailors on board were four young Christian crewmen, who decided that they should meet and pray.  Looking for a private place for prayer, they met on the lower deck.  Falling upon their knees, they instantly were filled with the Presence of God.  So great was their joy that they started to sing and praise the Lord.  


Wicked sailors, who were upon the top deck, heard the jubilant singing and decided to investigate.  Upon discovering that it was coming from a secret prayer meeting, the vile bunch decided to mock and jeer.  Descending the iron stairs to the place of prayer, the mob fell under the powerful presence of the Holy Spirit.  Their jeers turned to bitter tears.  Conviction overcame them and they began to cry out to God for mercy and forgiveness.  For several days, the prayer meeting continued.  Hundreds of the crew were converted.  The captain of the ship sent a message ashore requesting the help of pastors and ministers to come and pray with the sailors. 


The USS North Carolina became a bastion of revival.  Converted sailors, upon completing their training, were assigned to other ships in the fleet.  Wherever they went, revival broke out.  Revival swept the US fleet.  Prayer is a powerful force!

This message came to me concerning Damascus:

“Look, the city of Damascus will disappear!

It will become a heap of ruins."

A stunning report published by Jane's Defense Weekly confirms rumors of a July explosion at a Syrian military base at al-Safir, near Aleppo, in which reportedly"dozens" of Iranian engineers were killed along with their Syrian counterparts. 

Syria had originally dismissed reports of the explosion by saying the blast was generated by the desert heat causing the accidental detonation of a stockpile of explosives.

Jane's reported that the explosion was actually triggered while the engineers were fitting a chemical warhead onto a Scud-C missile. The explosion and fire released containers of the deadly nerve agents VX and sarin gas, as well as a mustard gas blistering agent. 

Israeli Internal Security Minister Avi Dichter told reporters this week, "Iran has entered into strategic cooperation with Syria on conventional and nonconventional weapons development," adding, "The Iranians are very big in Syria."

Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is preparing Syria to cover his flank, should war break out between Israel and Iran over Tehran's nuclear arsenal. Ahmadinejad is evidently gambling on Syria taking out Israel while Iran squares off against the United States. Were Iran and Israel to face each other head-to-head, one or the other would inevitably cease to exist. Israel would have no choice but to annihilate Iran before Iran annihilated Israel.

Israel's "Samson Option" is named after the biblical judge who sacrificed himself in order to take his enemies with him. In the event of its impending destruction, Israel's retaliatory plan involves taking the Middle East along with it. 

As the Iraq experience has proved, war with the United States is survivable. The terms of Israel's "Samson Option" mean war with Israel involving first-use weapons of mass destruction is not.

To Ahmadinejad's way of thinking, if somebody has to be martyred to the Mahdi's cause, why not Syria? Twenty-five hundred odd years ago, the Hebrew prophet Isaiah prophesied of the destruction of Damascus. This prophecy is made more fascinating by the fact it remains unfulfilled in history.

Damascus is the oldest continually inhabited city on earth. Although conquered many times, its status as an economic and cultural center of antiquity preserved it intact to this day.

But Isaiah predicted Damascus would one day face utter destruction: "Behold, Damascus is about to be removed from being a city and it will become a fallen ruin," he writes in Isaiah 17:1.

The prophet also predicts Damascus' destruction will come at a time when "the glory of Jacob" had begun to fade (verse 4), at a time when Israel is in great peril of being "shaken like an olive tree," leaving only a few "on the topmost bough." 

Isaiah prophesies that, when Damascus' destruction comes, there will be "an uproar of many peoples" and "the rumbling of nations" but that they will flee at God's rebuke. 

It seems clear from recent events that Syria is preparing chemical and biological weapons, and possibly some form of nuclear weapon for use in some future war against Israel. Syria and Iran have been outfitting Hezbollah with the latest in offensive weaponry since the war of June 2006.

Israel is unlikely to sit back and wait for a first-use chemical or gas attack from Damascus. Neither is it likely to wait until Ahmadinejad can use Syria to flank them in the event of conflict with Iran. So the number of Israeli raids against Syrian targets is likely to escalate until either Israel has destroyed the threat or Syria responds militarily. If Syria attacks with weapons of mass destruction, it can expect a massive, in-kind Israeli response.

Bible prophecy doesn't make allowances for a full-scale unconventional war of annihilation of Israel by Iran, however. Ezekiel predicts Iran's participation of the Gog-Magog invasion as part of a Russian-led alliance, not a regional alliance with Syria. Both Iran and Israel are listed as participants in that future conflict. 

But Syria isn't.

Syria isn't numbered among any of the various protagonists prophesied to participate in the conflicts of the last days.

Isaiah describes the destruction of Damascus in much the same terms that would be used today to describe the effects of all-out, no-holds-barred Israeli retaliatory strike against a Syrian gas attack.

"At evening time, behold, there is terror! Before morning, they are no more" (Isaiah 17:13-14).

Assad had better reconsider his options – while he still has some.
